Clate Lyons, 79, died at 6 a.m. Tuesday. In early life a farmer in the Linden area, he worked in later years as a carpenter in this community. He was a native of Linden, born April 28, 1886 to Robert and Margaret Jones Lyons. He attended school at Linden and was married in 1908 to Pearl Thompson, who preceded him in death 13 years ago. Surviving are four sons, Floyd of Houston, Tex., Paul of Hammond and Max E. and John of Crawfordsville; five daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Shipman of Linden, Mrs. Marie Budd of Rt. 2 Crawfordsville, Mrs. Mildred Lumbirt of Logansport. Mrs. Ruth Tracy of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Dorothy Weddle of Rt. 1 Crawfordsville; a brother, Jess of Peoria, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Goldie Ryker of Darlington and Mrs. Rose Smith of Indianapolis, and 21 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at the Powers Funeral Home, with Rev. John Servies officiating and burial in the Mace K. of P. Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

***** Funeral services were conducted for Clate Lyons Thursday afternoon at the Powers Funeral Home with Rev. John Servies in charge. Serving as pallbearers and assisting with the flowers were John Budd, Tom Budd, Larry Tracy, David Lyons, Jim Thompson and Max Thompson. Selected hymns were played by the organist Mrs. Warren Crane. Burial was in the family lot at the Mace K of P Cemetery. Mr. Lyons died Tuesday following a long illness.
